Friends Community Church Website Management

The Purpose of our Missions Ministry is to support through prayer and financial assistance, those with a calling from God, to go out into the world to reach people for Jesus.

Our long-term goal is to identify, educate, and generate missionaries from within our own congregation. The fruits of these endeavors will be salvation and a growing relationship with Christ.

Jeremy and Betty Smuck - Aguascalientes, Mexico

Jeremy and Betty Smuck are missionaries to Aguascalientes, Mexico; the very center and least evangelized area of that country.  At just over one half of one percent evangelical, the endeavor to bring the salvation of Christ to the people of Aguascalienties is a tremendous and exciting challenge!  2 Corinthians 4:6 belongs to the Smucks and the missionary team of Evangelical Friends Mission in Aguascalientes as we are truly living out this verse on a daily basis.  Aguascalientes and the 5 surrounding states are known as the heart of spiritual darkness of Mexico and it is our mandate and joy to bring the light of Christ to this place!

Bruce and Linda Cannon - Opole, Poland

Bruce and Linda Cannon are church planting missionaries to Poland through SEND International where only 0.2% of Poland’s population are evangelical believers.  The mission is to plant reproducing churches with our national partners (the Polish Baptist Union) in towns and cities where there is almost no gospel witness, and to develop leaders for all aspects of church life.  They are currently serving in Opole where their fellowship has started weekly public worship services and have located a Polish church planter to give it Polish leadership.

Del and Becky Chinchen - Yepeka, Liberia

After 12 years with Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya Del and Becky have now moved back to Liberia in January 2008 so as to reopen ABC University in Sept. 2008.  There are 10-12 buildings that need to be completed this year (with more buildings to restore in 2009 and 2010) in order to reopen the university.  As President of ABC University, Del is sourcing for faculty, designing curriculum, fundraising for scholarships along with other administration and teaching responsibilities.

Becky’s primary focus will be to give administrative assistance and support to the reopening and operation of ABC University.  She will also do a feasibility study to determine the needs of a potential Amani in Liberia.  She is providing broad oversight to the whole Amani International organization mostly through intranet communication.

Todd and Celesta James - Ireland

Todd and Celesta have served the people of Ireland since 1982.  Working with Evangelical Friends Mission, the James family helps to plant church throughout Ireland, work with kids through sports camps and trains leadership in the churches.  They are currently involved with the church plant, Cairde Christian Fellowship (where Kathi Perry has been serving).  Todd also directs SportsLife, a sports ministry, which runs camps, clinics, and brings teams to Ireland to share Christ.  This summer, two teams will be coming to Ireland to help serve with the James’ ministry by helping with the JAM Basketball Camp and the first JAM Soccer Camp.

Kathi Perry - Ireland

Kathi is from Rose Drive Friends Church in California. Since 2001 she has been working in Dublin, Ireland as a church planting missionary. In that role she has spent her time discipling new believers, teaching, in youth ministry, and administration of a lending library outreach at the local preschool. In 2007 Kathi phased out of the work at Cairde Christian Fellowship in Ringsend, Dublin, and moved to a new area to establish a second church plant in Ireland. In Ireland, fewer than 1% of the population are evangelical Christians. Kathi’s desire for Ireland is that they would hear God’s word in its fullness, and respond as faithful witnesses to the truth of the message they have received (Colossians 1:25-29). To that end, we work to plant churches that have a vision for living out the Gospel and carrying its message into their own communities and to the rest of the world.

Phil and Cathy Thompson - Campus Crusade for Christ

Phil and Cathy serve for the US Campus Ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International.  Phil is part of the Campus Ministry Staff Care Team. As the US Campus Ministry Crisis Manager.  He and the Staff Care team help staff work through difficult times.  This includes help with recovering from natural disasters, relational problems or moral failures.  He also works with staff serving in high security areas of the world planning responses to difficult situations.  Cathy uses her people gifts on campus ministry at the University of Central Florida (over 45,000 students!).  She leads a small group of student women pointing them to Christ.  Along with a staff friend, she sets up a table on campus once a week called “Ask Mom” where they give away cookies and talk with students about questions they would like to ask ranging from cooking and laundry to relational and spiritual issues.

Roy and Jinky have been taking the gospel to people from the Middle East. The unreached have heard the gospel, churches have been planted, and leaders have been trained. With a continuing need for more workers in the Middle East, the Twaddells are now concentrating their efforts on training for outreach to the Islamic world. The Twaddells will continue to encourage, train, and provide logistical support for current leaders in the United Kingdom, Germany, America, and the Middle East.
