Friends Community Church Website Management

YouthGroup3.jpg

Today's youth are constantly being bombarded by the world they live in trying to tell them what they should look like, how they should dress, and who they should be friends with. We feel the best way to face these issues is to give young people a place where they can come as they are. Bible studies, retreats, beach trips, food, games and fun provide the right atmosphere for relationships with others and Christ.

Jr. High & High School Apologetics Month
Starting on Jan 11th (Tuesday), we are going to have an apologetics focus for four weeks.  We will look at several topics including a Christian worldview, Creation vs. Evolution, and other religions.  The desire to do this stems from many questions from our students who desire to live for God in the face of a culture that tells them not to.  Our hope is that this helps our students to live out a bolder faith for the world to see and give them the confidence (and knowledge) to stand up to the world’s attacks on Christianity.

Jr. High & High School
Winter Camp (Jan. 28-30) - is coming up and we want to be sure that everyone has the dates on their calendar.  When we first mentioned winter camp, we had advertised the dates as Feb 11-13.  Apparently, Richard was looking at last years dates on the camp website so, my apologies.  Anyway, we will be heading back up to Thousand Pines in Crestline.  This camp is for jr. high and high school students.  The cost does include the camp as well as bus transportation there and back (which is a first for us).  We are asking that parents have their students at church by 2:00PM on Friday.  We know this means that you might have to take them out of school early, but we think this is better than driving up a potentially snow-covered, icy mountain at night.  Money for camp will be due Sunday January 9th.  If you have any questions please contact Richard

High School

Mexicali (April 2-8 & 16-22) -

As many of you have probably heard, we are planning two trips to Mexicali.  Because Spring Break falls on different weeks for our students, we feel that this will allow the most people to participate.  The cost for the week will be $325 and the money will be due Jan. 30th.  Please be praying for these weeks.  This year will look a little different than previous years and there is potential for people to be disappointed because we won’t be going together, but God will use this potential for His glory and we have confidence that things will turn out fine.  Also, if you, as an adult, would be willing to go down for the week, please let Richard know.  Richard cannot go on both trips so we will need some leaders to lead one of the weeks (probably the first week, April 2-8).  The goal is to have either, Bryan Glenn or Chris Stutzman (or both), head up that first week and Richard would lead the second.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Richard.
